Aircraft collides in UK

(MENAFN) A Beechcraft B200 aircraft crashed in Essex, UK, shortly after departing from London Southend Airport around 4:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. The crash was captured on video and widely shared on social media.

Footage shows thick black smoke billowing from a field near the runway, while photos taken shortly after the incident depict a large explosion and fireball.

Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were onboard the small passenger plane. Both Southend Airport and Essex Police acknowledged the incident but have not provided details on casualties. “We were called shortly before 4 p.m. to reports of a collision involving a 12-meter aircraft. We are coordinating with all emergency services at the scene, and this work is expected to continue for several hours,” police said in a statement.

Emergency services responded with four ambulances, four hazardous area response teams, and an air ambulance, according to local medical authorities. As a safety measure, nearby Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club were evacuated.

British media reports indicate the plane was headed for Lelystad in the Netherlands. London Southend Airport is located approximately 60 kilometers from central London. Flight data suggests the aircraft was operated by Zeusch Aviation, a Dutch company known for medical evacuation, organ transport, and private charter flights.
